While I was recently digging through my phone archives, I stumbled upon an artifact from a fun tradition I used to enjoy during my travels—asking locals to say the phrase "back to work" in Russian, which sounds like "narabotu". Why, you ask? So that at the end of my trip, I could post a final Instagram update about where I was headed next.
It was a cool tradition, one I somehow forgot during the long break in travel during the COVID era. But now, I think it’s time to bring it back. If only to practice communicating with strangers and to entertain locals with my quirky requests. As you can see from their faces, they were all more than happy to be a part of my little performance.
